The Saskatchewan Shorthorn Association is successfully striving to compete in the competitive beef industry in areas such as the Awards of Excellence Program for youth; presentation in Executive Class Shows, such as, Canadian Western Agribition and Saskatoon Fall Fair; host an annual provincial consignment sale - Shorthorn Alliance Sale. The breed also plays an active role in crossbreeding herd programs throughout the province. Crossbreeding with Shorthorn cattle will maximize the expression of heterosis (hybrid vigor).
